So the Man Cub appointed himself as our event planner for the evening. The activity was Scooby Doo oriented. Big surprise there.
If you can picture him inserting the DVD then sitting on my gym ball, remote in hand. “Mommy, Daddy, are you ready to start now or will you be a little while longer?”
I have to give it to him for being thorough and semi-patiently making sure we follow through. He may be good in sales one day.
He finds me in the laundry room. “Will you be ready after you put the clothes in the wash.”
“Yes, I will do that and then go to the bathroom and get my computer.”
“Okay, you should use the guest bathroom because it is on your way from the laundry room to the living room.” (Uh okay I will take that under advisement.)
I sit down with my Mac Book. (Mommy’s here. Check.)
“Daddy, are you coming?”
Like some cartoon character off Boomerang, he rides the bouncing ball into the bedroom to check on Dan who is shaving, gets a quick lesson in shaving (does it hurt? how often do you have to do it? etc. etc.) and then reminds him we will be viewing Scooby Doo together.
After all this we obediently sit on the couch with our laptops.
“Are we all ready now? Okaaay.” And with an authoritative gesture he points the remote control at the DVD player and our ears are delighted with that LOVELY Scooby Doo jingle.
By the way: This viewing is being narrated to make sure that we get the full enjoyment out of this episode. And just to make sure we are with him in MIND as well as BODY, every few minutes or at an exciting part he looks to make sure we are watching, and we swiftly shift eyeballs to the TV. “Oh man look at that! Scary!” Or some semi-appropriate response.
Damn he is on top of us, lol.
